A brand new year is here-2010.  Now what are we going to do with it?  Are we happy with what we accomplished in 2009?  Can 2010 be a better year for us?  Economically, I think the answer would be YES.  Hopefully we will begin to see an upward trend in our unemployment situation and money will be more readily available from lending institutions.  There's no easy solutions to the economic woes the whole world has seen the past 18 months.  Our economy and the United States of America needs lots of prayer.  We can all participate in that aspect.

RESOLUTIONS--Have you made any?  The old cliche that resolutions are made to be broken and they usually are.  But why?  I think most of us make a resolution that is really just not attainable and therefore we become discouraged and quit--making you feel worse than before you made the resolution.  So, if you are one who makes new year's resolutions ( and I don't) then take the time to reason out what is really attainable.  Don't resolve to lose 100 pounds in one month--it's just not attainable, so it makes no sense to make that kind of resolution in the first place.

I hope your new venture into 2010 will be one of prosperity and happiness. May the joys of a fresh beginning carry through out the year and at the end of the year 2010 you can look back onto the year and see your accomplishments  and will be pleased.  Happy New Year everyone

Well, time to set those New Year’s Resolutions once again, and after so many years, I’ve found that mine really do not change, so I won’t have to make a new set, but just dust off and reuse the ones I’ve had for so long.

Isn’t that what we’re supposed to be doing now. Recycling, I mean. It’s the green thing to do. So, for the sake of the planet and the solar system in which this third rock from the sun is located, I’ll do my part. Here goes:

  1. Lose weight. This one’s been at the top of my list so long, it’s become a joke. The only difference is this year my doctor says I gotta do it. Something about my lipids and cholesterol and I’m getting older and blah, blah, blah. Stuff I don’t wanna hear.
  2. Make more money. This is radio, for God’s sake, how do I expect to make more? Rob a bank, maybe, but then I’d be reporting on my own arrest at 7, 12 and 5.
  3. Work less, play more. O.K., granted this is radio and it’s sometimes hard to tell the difference.
  4. Don’t let things get to me. Admittedly I have gotten better at accepting things I cannot change, but still find difficulty in not being able to change the things I cannot accept.
  5. Be more vocal with my elected officials. They work for us…..well, work is a relative term when it comes to many of them…for God’s sake, not the other way around. That’s MY money you’re spending….stop it. Enough is enough already.

6.       Try to get a year older. I’ve been told this beats the alternative.

Well, that’s enough resolutions for anyone. And, how many of those will I really be able to keep?  Well, I know for sure I’m gonna work at keeping number 6, but the others? Well, we’ll see. Happy New Year, everyone. Here’s hoping you a prosperous and contented 2010.

 Dr. Don Special Report # 4 Don@Eagle1023.com

It is amazing how some people get so passionate about winter weather. Snow is something we don’t see very much of in the south and just the mention of the white stuff in the forecast, will send people into a mad dash to the store for milk and bread. If you are one of those people, keep gas in your car because you will have several opportunities to run to the local food mart this season. We are in an El Nino weather pattern which means wet weather systems every three to four days and with a strongly negative Arctic Oscillation, which means cold temperatures; we will likely see several opportunities for winter weather mischief across Alabama and Georgia.

If you listen to my daily weather forecast on Eagle 1023 you will often hear me talk about the computer models. Models are used to give us a look at the pattern beyond 48 hours. Winter weather forecast in the south beyond 48 hours in this type pattern is not very accurate but the models give us an idea of what might take place. 99% of the time the models are correct with the over all pattern but exact placement of snow and ice can be difficult. Conditions have to be perfect to get snow in the Deep South and with the pattern that we are currently in, you can see how our chances are higher than usual.

We spend a lot of time monitoring weather conditions and fine tuning our forecast for East Alabama and West Georgia . We hope you will tune to Eagle 1023 the next time winter weather threatens.

"I used to say, 'I sure hope things will change.' Then I learned that the only way things are going to change for me is when I change." -- Jim Rohn

It’s a new year and everyone is making resolutions, but making resolutions does no good unless you actually carry them out.  I know there are plenty of things I need to change about myself and hopefully this year I will actually do something about it instead of just waiting on it to happen on its own.   All it takes is a little work to change, and like they say a little work never hurt anyone.  So maybe this year we all can do our best to keep our resolutions and make a change for ourselves.

It's the time of year for basketball, which is my favorite sport, so I am hoping that the team I play with can pull off another championship.  It would be great for us to get a three peat.  The thing I need to remember is it's not whether you win or lose it's how you play the game.  So saying that I'm going to do my best to keep a good attitude and just play my best, because win or lose it's going to be fun.

I want to also give thanks to the people at Eagle 102.3 for giving me a chance to be employed by them.  I really appreciate it and will do my best not to let them down.  I have a really great job that I enjoy even though we stay busy all the time, but the things that keep me busy are the things I enjoy so that makes it all ok.

Last but not least hopefully everyone had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I do want to mention that 2010 NASCAR Season is right around the next turn.  If you want to start the year off right, join us for a great value in advertising which is NASCAR racing.  I know making a year commitment is a big step, but it will keep you in racing for customers all 365 laps of the year.

Remember that there are less than two months left in this year!  So, let’s work hard, sell hard and promote hard to wrap up the year strong!

THE MONTH OF JANUARY MEANS A CLEAN SLATE....AND THIS YEAR I THINK EVERYONE IS READY FOR A NEW START....WE ALL MAKE NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS AND I HAVE MADE A FEW MYSELF...TO LOSE WEIGHT AND TO BECOME MORE ORGANIZED.  BUT MAKING A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION DOESN'T MAKE IT HAPPEN SO I AM MAKING MYSELF A STEP BY STEP PLAN....WE'LL SEE HOW THAT WORKS...  I DO WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HOPE ALL YOUR WISHES COME TRUE...GOOD LUCK ON YOUR RESOLUTIONS!    KAY

HAPPY NEW YEAR…

Everyone is hoping for a better economy in the coming months of 2010.  At least we will have an opportunity this fall to change Congress and a few Senators.  The only good thing to say about the economy is all us are in this together.  Your customers will start buying again.  Hang in there
