I don’t know about you, but March couldn’t have gotten here any sooner. February was as I always remembered it….very dull and boring, but this year it threw us another curve with the cold weather and only a couple of days of reprieve toward the end of the month.

March is one of those transitional months. Some cold, some wind, but hints of what is to be, later on. I think that’s why I like March.

I like March, too, because we observe our Eagle 1023 Listener Appreciation Tour. And while it’s a grueling schedule every Thursday and Friday, it’s fun, too, because it allows us to get out and visit with our listeners, have some fun at our advertisers’ locations and break the monotony of the “same old, same old” and at a fantastically low price for our advertisers. People want to shake off the “cabin fever” at the first few hints of warmer weather, and are ready to get out and DO something. And, Mr. or Ms. Business Owner, if you’d like to find out more about the tour and how you might become involved, give me or one of our other account reps a call and, if we have an opening, we’ll tell you all about it.

And, consider this your special invitation to come out and join us while we’re on tour. We’ll be in YOUR area soon.

If you call our Roanoke studios within the next few days and get some crazed-sounding woman who talks incoherently at times, don’t report me to the gooney squad. It’s just that I’m trying to work through the schedules for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series, Auburn Baseball, Braves Baseball, the Eagle 1023 Listener Appreciation Tour, and our regular programs. And, not get them all confused. As Traffic Director (that’s what our industry calls the person who’s in charge of getting all the programs and commercials on paper and scheduled), I’d hate to think I’ve sent Dr. Don and Coleman out to Turner Field for a Listener Appreciation stop when they were supposed to be in LaFayette or Wadley.

Of course, while juggling these schedules, my job also entails answering the phone, a job that I take very seriously. As a matter of fact, I hold the national record for the shortest ring time before the phone is answered. I do a lot of upper body work to keep in top form for this particular activity.

And, I also hold the record for driving the most account reps and program directors crazy by answering not only questions they may have about a particular schedule, but telling them about the schedule histories dating back eight years, and why they can’t change anything, because “that’s the way we’ve always done it”, and of course, since that’s the way we’ve always done it, it can never, ever, ever, be changed to a better way. Even if it meant the world would end if we didn’t change it, it can never be changed. After all, that’s the way I’ve always done it, and I’m sticking to it.

 Dr. Don Special Report # 4 Don@Eagle1023.com

It has been a wild and crazy winter in the Eagle 1023 Weather Office. As you know we take our weather coverage very serious around here and I have to say it has been challenging at best. As I write this months entry, we are in anticipation of yet another possible winter event across East Alabama and West Georgia . We have had no less than five near misses to date in a winter that has been very interesting. As you have heard me say on the air many times, predicting winter weather in the south is almost impossible. We have had the ingredients several times but mixing them up at the right time to produce a nice snow has been a problem. I love a good snow just as much as anyone but I am ready for spring.

Speaking of spring, the Listener Appreciation Tour is now underway and we look forward to seeing all of our Eagle People on Thursday and Friday's throughout this month. Thanks to everyone that has been making request during the Eagle 1023 Country Classic Cafe. We have really had a great time playing the oldies every Wednesday so if you have not tuned in I invite you to join me this Wednesday at 10 central 11 eastern for some good Classic Country.

March is upon us, and it sure seems like February went by fast.  Maybe the warm weather will be here soon.  Our Listener Appreciation Tour will be going on throughout the month of March, and I’m sure that it will be great.  Also we have the Nascar season under way and you can hear all of the action on our stations.  We also still have the Country Classic Café on Wednesdays so everyone send in their request.  There is still a little left in the basketball season and you can hear all of the Auburn games on 102.3.  As for the team I play with we finished the season with only one loss and will be playing the post season tournament during the month of March.  I’ve had to play my last few games with an injured foot, but it is a lot better now and ready for our tournament.  Hopefully we can play our best and get us one more championship!  Till next month I wish everyone the best and stay tuned in to Eagle 102.3, and ESPN 1240, 1360, and 96.9.

We have now made it to March and that means the Listener Appreciation Tour has started. We will be traveling on Thursdays in Georgia and Fridays in Alabama .  I look forward to seeing all the cities in our listening area. The Listener Appreciation Tour was an idea that started some many years ago to pass out Eagle 102.3 Tee Shirts and find new advertisers who like to see the radio station in action. I would have never thought it would have caught on like it has. I hope you will let us come to visit you and spend an hour talking about your business. You might just become a regular advertiser on Eagle 102.3, so we can help your business grow every day.

We still have 2 NASCAR Packages for you.  Ask your Eagle 102.3, ESPN 1240, 1360, and 96.9 representative how NASCAR can work for you.  (GO Danica GO she will be back in the Nationwide series in a few months so sign up for NASCAR today!)

I am also proud to announce that Atlanta Braves Baseball will be added to ESPN 1240, 1360, and 96.9 starting this year.  We will start selling packages for this season in mid to late March 2010.

That is it for this month!  I hope to see you on the Listener Appreciation Tour when we come to your town.

It’s time for the Eagle 102.3 Listener Appreciation Tour.

For those of you who are new to the area….Eagle 102.3 travels during the month of March and April in order to visit the towns in our coverage to let our listener’s win prizes and register for prizes in the Big Red Barrel.  This year promises to be another great tour.  Make plans to come and visit when we come to your area.
