Special Report # 1 |

Well, by now, the ghosts and goblins have
vanished and that means a full launch into the holiday season is upon us with
Thanksgiving just a few days away and Christmas just around the corner.
This is the time of year to take a moment and be reflective of the things we are
thankful for in life. There are too many good blessings in my life to name
here. So many people ask me if I enjoy reporting on all the bad things
that happen and the answer is--NO, and they ask, then why do you do it?.
Well, first of all, that's what I get paid to do--to inform the public of events
and things that happen around them. It's true that a lot of the news
involves people's misfortunes and bad behavior, but the news also
contains informative news such as what's happening with your city and
county governments and what's going on in our school system and people want to
know if there's a rash of break-ins or thefts in a particular neighborhood so
they can be better prepared. And we pass along good news, too, about
events happening in our area and about people's accomplishments. It's a
joy and an honor to spend a few minutes each day with you, our listeners, to
be a part of your lives in an effort to keep you informed about the world around
you. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of you--and be thankful for what you have
been blessed with in life.

Hi Yall!
Kim Frank here, creator of the News Letter you’re reading and this is
our second edition. I am still
enjoying my life as the mother of two of the greatest children in the world.
I hope that our Sponsors and listeners enjoy the insight the Eagle’s
Nest employees include in our monthly News Letters.
I don’t know about you but to me, Fall
feels like football season and for the rest of Football Season I can be found at
Troup High’s home games. Not
willing to grow up I have a blast tailgating out in front of Callaway Stadium
with our sports announcers. We
all know that tailgating means great food! And,
I always want to get to know our listeners.
Take a minute to come by and introduce yourself.
I have the greatest hot wings provided by DJ’s Wings & Things and
refreshing Callaway Blue Water.
As the Administrative- Production
Assistant I wear many hats; one to include the web master.
I am responsible for adding the information you find on our webpage at www.eagle1023.com.
Our webpage is updated daily so don’t miss a day surfing by to check it
out. As the Production Assistant I
assure that some of the programs you enjoy listening to air on our stations from
our FM stations 102.3 & 96.9 to the AM stations 1240 & 1360, as well as
assisting with special events, interviews and commercial spots.
With turkey day around the corner I wish you and your family a delicious and delightful Thanksgiving holiday!

Why
have local news on Eagle 1023?
It
takes a great deal of time to produce a local newscast. Aside from the actual
on-air delivery, there’s the time spent chasing down stories, the sometimes
long hours spent sitting in meetings or waiting to talk with law enforcement
personnel, the interviewing, the checking of facts, the writing of the story,
the editing and the recording. Virtually hours can be spent on a three-minute
on-air newscast. Why do we do this? For YOU.
You
have busy schedules, you’re working hard to keep things going at your business
and at the same time find quality time with your family. Many people can’t fit
a council meeting or a commission meeting into their daily schedule. But, you
still have a right and an obligation to be informed of what’s going on in your
community. So, we try to help you do that.
Because you are often pushed for time getting yourself and your kids
ready for work and school each morning and trying to juggle everything else
there is to do when you get off work in the afternoons, we try to make the
information we give you as concise and accurate as possible.
In radio, we don’t try to give you ALL the meat, we take out the fat,
and serve you just the lean…as Sgt. Joe Friday would have said, “Just the
facts, m’am”. You find out what’s happening at city hall without having to
sift through the mundane (or sit on those hard benches for hours).
At a time when many “big city” stations are taking all the local
content out of their programming, we’re actually adding it in. Local news,
sports, weather and public service happenings are vital to a small community and
that’s part of our obligation to you. Even if you’re not a fan of country
music, you’ll find we have something important for you each and every day. We
are your daily information source. It’s a big responsibility, but we’re
willing to accept it. And THAT, my friends, is why Eagle 102.3 is committed to
continuing local and regional news for both

The
"Legends of Country Music" Thursdays have been better than ever this
year with Janie Fricke, Howard Bellamy, Charlie Daniels and Donna Fargo. I just

WLAG – ESPN Sports has a new FM Radio
Voice on 96.9mhz…WLAG FM covers most of Troup County
day
and night. Give 96.9 mhz a try…see
how well it is received at your location.
Let me bring you up to date on how WLAG
was able to get an FM outlet. The
FCC allowed AM stations to file for a low power FM station to improve night time
coverage. The FCC issued Eagle’s
Nest Inc. a construction permit . The
new
FM
station was built at
Last month I wrote about “voice over
IP”. What that means is we convert
analog voice to digital and transmit it over the internet from the play-by-play
announcer to the studio for broadcast.
In times past cell phones may have been
used, but when all cell phones went digital the quality went out the window.
Everyone here thought our listeners deserved a quality broadcast ….so
we invested in a digital unit that converts normal voice to use on the internet.
Voice over IP is the reason our sports
broadcasts sound so much better than the other play-by-play broadcasts you might
hear.
Eagle’s Nest Inc. will continue to do
the best job possible for our listeners and our advertisers.
Next month I will share with you about why land based radio is so important in your emergency plans for your family.
