Finally, some cooler air is here and the feel of fall is in the air.  It's always exciting when the seasons start to transition.  Each season has its own unique feel about it.  With fall, comes football, whether it is high school, college or professional.  Nothing better than to take in a Friday night high school football game and of course West Georgia and East Alabama always have some of the most exciting high school football teams in the two states. Our Eagles Nest stations have got it covered well too carrying a great menu of play by play coverage of the area's teams as well as scores galore on the Eagle 102.3 website.  Not only that, but our Saturday Morning Quarterback shows on Saturday morning with the coaches in our studios talking about the previous night's game. Saturdays are always awesome with plenty of college action football with Eagle 102.3 broadcasting the Auburn games from pre-game to post game. Then, the pros do their thing on Sundays.  Whether your appetite is for sports, today's best country music, financial advice from money guru Dave Ramsey, or all the latest news from yours truly or my cohort, Al Haynes covering East Alabama you're sure to find something to your liking on one of our four radio stations devoted to pleasing our listeners.  Whether you are an avid listener or one of our many advertisers, we thank you for listening or being one of our supporters to help spread the entertainment and information through out our listening area.

Well, well, October already. That means Lamar Dulin and I will now claim we’re wearing our Halloween masks early getting ready for the “Big Night”. Lamar can already scare little children by walking down the street and I’ve been known to give a fright to old ladies when I simply offer to open a door for them. I don’t know if it’s the gesture or my face that scares them.

The high school football regular season winds down toward the end of this month, cooler weather will finally creep into our world and Valentine Candy will start making appearances on the store shelves.

Of course, this is also the month when Mother Nature puts on a show. Let’s hope this year she’ll be in rare form. Every few years it happens. Really vibrant colors, with the leaves lingering an extra-long time on the trees. Nothing prettier than Autumn. Every year I say I’m going to hang out more at Mt. Cheaha , where Mother Nature lives in the Fall, but I never do. This year, though, I’m going to try extra hard to get up there during the “turning of the leaves”.  I’ll take my coat, too. And, where did I put that mask?

Wow how things have been busy around here.  Seems like whenever you get one thing done, there is always much more to do.  I love my sports and can hear them on all of our stations.  The braves are in a chase for the playoffs and all of their games can be heard on WLAG ESPN 1240 AM and 96.9 FM.  Football Season is underway and you can hear Alabama area high school football every Friday night on Eagle 102.3.  You can also listen to WLAG ESPN 1240 AM and 96.9 FM to hear every Troup County High School football game.  If its college football you like, we have Tiger Talk each and every Thursday on Eagle 102.3 starting at 7:00 P.M. CST on Eagle 102.3 giving you all kinds of information about the Auburn Tigers, my favorite team.  Also, you can listen to every Auburn football game on Eagle 102.3.  Don’t let me leave out the Tigers are 4-0, WAR EAGLE!!! GO TIGERS!!!  We have all of those great things and so much more going on.

With all of those good things we got going, and this good weather we have been getting lately, I’m sure October will be a fantastic month, or at least I sure hope it will.  Even if things don’t go as great as we want, let’s always remember they could be worse.

We are pleased to welcome our new traffic manager, Caryl Stephens.  She is doing a great job and we are glad to have found such a capable person to add to our staff.  We have had a great start to our football programming and are looking forward to the rest of the season.  We are in the middle of Jack’s restaurant’s free food give-a-way.  Be sure to register at Hack’s and listen on Friday night to see if your name is called.

Football, Pumpkins, and caramel apples, I love October… And I don’t care how old you are… Buy yourself a pumpkin and make a jack=o=lantern, eat a caramel apple, and celebrate fall!
