Lamar Special Report # 1 LamarDulin@Eagle1023.com

It's June, so summer can't be far away.  In just a few days, summer officially will arrive (June 21 st) and of course comes all the usual summer activities--camping, swimming, cook-outs, riding four-wheelers, skate-boarding, kite- flying, vacations and numerous other events associated with summer.  From a news perspective and having covered, written and reported news events over the years, while it's a fun-filled three months of summer activities, I have seen it turn into sometimes tragic events. Reporting devastating news because of a fun event that has gone bad is never easy.  Most of the time, it's because of some safety issue either being ignored or neglected.  Drownings, fires from out-door grilling, snakes bites from camping, vehicle accidents, broken bones from falls----the list can go on and on.  The bottom line is, whatever summer event you take part in this summer, keep safety first and forefront in your mind.  Have a plan in mind ahead of time to be prepared if the un-expected happens.  Remember, no one plans to have an accident.  Take the time this summer to slow it down a bit and just be careful at whatever you undertake.  That would make my job as a news reporter a lot easier and a lot less stressful and your days of summer more enjoyable.

 Dr. Don Special Report # 4 Don@Eagle1023.com

May was a very busy month with lots of give a ways on Eagle 1023. Our Bama Jam give a way was a huge hit as always and we are sending many Country Music Fans to Enterprise for this years 3rd annual Bama Jam. June is here and that marks the beginning of Hurricane season. I would like to remind you that Hurricanes can cause problems this far north so make sure you have a plan of action in the event we have a gulf storm this year. The American Red Cross and NOAA websites are good sources of information for developing a Hurricane plan. Our spring football game went well as the Handley Tigers traveled to Centre, Alabama and took care of Cherokee County . Thanks to our sponsors that made or broadcast possible. We are getting ready for our fall football season which is just around the corner.

Another month down and it was packed full of action.  We had the Randolph County Bike Hike, West Point Lake MusicFest, Welcome back to Lake Wedowee , the Handley jamboree football game, and much more.  On top of all the great things we had here we also had Mother’s Day which is always great, and for myself I had my sister’s and my birthday this month.  Our birthdays are on back to back days so it is always fun when May comes around.  I know there is a bunch of things coming up soon that I am looking forward to.  First one being the NBA finals because I am a big Lakers and Kobe fan and am hoping they can get another championship.  Also with basketball ending I’m looking forward to trying to pay more attention to the Braves and I’m glad to know I can hear them, if I’m unable to watch them, on 96.9 FM, 1240 AM, 1360 AM.  Come July I’m hoping to have enough money saved up to go to New York to see one of my best friends.  Till next time hopefully everyone is enjoying this warm weather and I hope it is a good summer for everyone.
